salone del mobile milan (it)

April 8th 2014 – April 13th 2014

For the first time since 2009, this year I'm going to skip the madhouse called Milan. Usually we would have been very busy making preparations, so there is a slight sense of emptiness... But we have good reason. This year we want to focus entirely on the opening of our new premises at the Hembrug site in Zaandam, near Amsterdam.

But fortunately we will be represented in Milan! This year the Salone del Mobile will take place from the 8th to the 13th of April 2014 and you will find Dirk Vander Kooij products at the following locations:

MILAN 2014 | WNDR\KMR
Ventura Lambrate - Via Dei Canzi 19, Milaan

Together with Niek Schoenmakers of WNDR\KMR and the Council of Justice in The Hague we designed a stackable chair: the RvR Chair. It's an elementary and therefore ageless design. The Chubby Chair formed the basic principle, except now it will be in one piece. A Chubby in one piece has been a cherished wish of mine for a long time and with the new robot arm we are now capable of moving the Chubby directly from the production plate into the template where it gets its ultimate form.

The result is a beautifully layered line pattern of intertwining legs and armrests - similar to an Escher drawing. Moreover, the interplay of lines reveals how the chair is made.

MILAN 2014 | STICHTING ZETEL
SEDIA HUB @ BUG 18 - Via Gaspare Bugatti 18, Milaan

For the occasion, the Zetel Foundation will present three Chubby Chairs in the three colors of the Dutch flag. The presentation is part of a larger exposition organized by the Zetel Foundation where various exciting chair concepts by promising Dutch designers will be on display.

MILAN 2014 | SUPERMODELS
Via Ventura 5, Ventura Lambrate, MIlan

Supermodels is an overview of Dutch chairs organized by Concern. In the exposition, the well known work by Droog, Richard Hutten, Marcel Wanders and Studio Job will be related to a canon of earlier examples by Gerrit Rietveld, Friso Kramer and Mart Visser up to and including Hendrik Pieter Berlage. I'm most proud to find our Endless Chair to be a part of this very select company.
