15 talents and 3 generation will gather for the 10th anniversary of Dutch Design Week. It will happen tomorrow, on Saturday 22nd October, in Eindhoven, during the opening of an exhibition organized by Premsela (Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion) and DDW 2011. Spring illustrates the connections between designers – who learned from whom and who is the source of inspiration for today’s designers.
Curator Miriam van der Lubbe chose them to represent the field’s breadth; names like Piet Hein Eek, Scholten & Baijings and Maarten Baas appear along with Philips’s Stefano Marzano, Volvo’s Corien Pompe and Ikea’s Monika Mulder. Spring also introduces hot new talents in whom the established designers have identified an outstanding originality, individualism or professionalism: afghani Nienke Sybrandy with his micro greenhouse Biotopen, Massoud Hassani with Mine Kafon, a wind powered anti-landmine ball and Thomas Eurlings with the jewellery collection Total Access Jewellery, in whom the established designers have identified an outstanding originality, individualism or professionalism.
Design Breakfasts will take place at the Designhuis at 10am on Sunday 23, Friday 28 and Saturday 29 October, during Dutch Design Week. Everyone is welcome for coffee, croissants and good conversation. Spring designers will talk with experts on the respective themes of trust in design, open design, and the standardisation of design processes. The €5 admission fee includes coffee, a croissant and entry to the exhibition.
