Playfully 3D printed lines deceive the gravity of the mummy planter.
Reclaimed refrigerator interiors are extruded into solid 40mm thick coils, equipping the planter to withstand extreme environmental conditions. The singular process is an exercise in both decadence and practicality.
With a form comparable to soft serve ice cream or a rudimentary coil pot, the planter celebrates design as a consequence of production. Dirk Vander Kooij’s custom-developed 3D printing robot performs a balancing act, imposing an energetic, unfixed structure on simple plastic extrusions.
Available in four sizes, the mummy planter functions in both domestic and outdoor settings.
